About the ecotrail
An easy route leads to the top station of the VL-1000 cable car, one of the first T-bar lifts in the Sochi mountains. The trail gets its name from the structure still standing there—a historical landmark and a milestone in Krasnaya Polyana's skiing history.
Just imagine: in 1968, students from a children's and youth school trained there; later, the Spartak ski resort was built, operating until 1992. The cable cars were then dismantled, the ski slopes were overgrown with young forest, and many years later, you can enjoy the scenery, fresh air, and a leisurely stroll in these picturesque areas.
The VL-1000 cable car, manufactured in Czechoslovakia, was installed in 1974. It provided access to the downhill trail, which at that time was located at altitudes of 1,550–650 meters above sea level. Locals called this ski lift "Leningradka."
On the trail, you'll encounter another landmark from the last century—a snow measuring rod, used to measure snow depth.
Highlights along the route:
- old T-bar lift
- flowering plants
- snow measuring rod
- mountain streams
When planning a walk along the eco-trail, consider your physical abilities.
